A landcomm is an interactive community based around a particular theme.
Also, a land community is a community where fans of a specific fandom come together to participate in writing, graphics, media, puzzle, luck and trivia challenges, and other things to accumulate points for their teams.
ABOUT US, SPECIFICALLY
This community's theme is television dramas. No other form of fandom-activity will be accepted, with few exceptions.
When you apply and are accepted, you're placed on a "team," which are called ensembles here. When you're placed with your ensemble, you can participate in numerous activities throughout the land. Every time you complete an activity or a challenge (or other forms of participation) you earn points for yourself and your team.
The ensemble with the most points at the end of the Season wins for that season! When an ensemble wins, all points zero out and we start a new season. The ensemble that wins will get a banner that is placed on their community profile. And, of course, bragging rights. There's also the Ensemble Trophy - which will be placed on the Ensemble's profile. When a new ensemble wins, it will be removed and given to the new winner.
For a introductory tour of the land, go here.
HOW DO I APPLY?
You apply by going here and filling out a short application. You are then placed with an ensemble.
You are placed according to three things: 1) number of people per ensemble; 2) your preference list and 3) what kind of television dramas you prefer. When you apply, you'll receive a comment with what ensemble you're in and your invite to the community. After you accept, you can go around joining all the sub-communities.
CrimeMd - for those who love crime, legal or medical tv show dramas.
Family - for those family-based and family-oriented tv show dramas.
Fantasy - for those who love fantasy tv show dramas.
Sci Fi - for those who love science fiction tv show dramas.
Teen - for those who love teen tv show dramas.
(Your ensemble does NOT mean you are in any way limited to participating with only that type of drama.
You can participate with/around/about any television drama that you like).
.Sig Tag activities are not allowed in ensembles. We apologize.
Currently, the Mascots at our Ensembles are some of the Most Popular tv show dramas in their category.
CrimeMd - Elementary
Family - Gilmore Girls
Fantasy - True Blood
Sci Fi - Doctor Who
Teen - Pretty Little Liars
Mascots are not permanent; eventually we'll have nominations and votes and community members will choose their own.
WHAT KINDS OF CHALLENGES, ACTIVITIES AND ETC. CAN I EXPECT?
This varies so much that I feel odd about listing them out, but here's a good example:
puzzles, games, graphics (icons, headers, wallpapers), fan-fiction, rating, social interaction, *shopping, and much, much more can be expected from this community.
*Shopping means our sig tag/icon community.
HOW WILL ACTIVITIES AND CHALLENGES WORK?
Each new activity/challenge will have its rules explained in its own post, and points will be determined by Mods. Each challenge and activity will be held in a specific and particular sub-community. Submissions not following the rules will not be accepted and deadlines/due dates for all activities will be clearly stated in the entry and on update announcements.
If you're unsure about an activity, the questions thread for that activity is where you should make us aware. Each sub-community has its own type of activities/challenges, and each has their own specific deadlines.
WHEN/WHERE WILL WINNERS BE ANNOUNCED?
Winners for all activities will be announced in the winners community, finaleshowcase; this includes winners for each activity, challenge and season.
WAIT, WHAT'S A SEASON?
A season is a round or phase here. They run for four weeks.
There is a 3-term limit for Mods here. Mod elections will occur after every 3 seasons. You will either re-elect your current mods (not including the President) or elect new mods. This will apply to all ensembles, clubs and other sub-communities as needed.
DO I HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN EVERYTHING?
No. You are required to participate in two activities per season only; if you do not, you'll be cut. You can, of course, reapply at any time. Re-applying does not guarantee you'll end up with the same ensemble you had before.
HOW DO POINTS WORK?
You get points individually and as an ensemble. Points are clearly stated on every activity. There are spreadsheets for each sub-community (divided into ensembles) that are given out when activities are over, in announcement and winners posts. Points range from 1-100 at any given time.
Sig tag use adds additional points to your score for an individual activity, but it can only be applied one time for the same activity. Sig Tag point additions are determined by the sub-community and activity.
When you complete an activity, challenge or whatnot you earn points for yourself and your ensemble. You points are not
divided (half going to you, half to your ensemble), instead we duplicate your points and give your points to you
and to your ensemble. For example, if you earn ten points, so does your ensemble.
OTHER POINTS-EARNING STUFF
You earn 40 points per Season for being a Moderator, 30 points per Season for being a Club Leader (running a Club), and 15 points per Season for running a Catalog (having a spot/slot/stall at the shop community).
WHAT'S A SHOP?
Please see tdl_designhouse. A shop is a sig tag, banner, icon offering catalog.
All shop related rules are at tdl_designhouse and all questions about how it works, its points and etc. should be addressed to that community.
You now earn +10 points for referring a member!
SO, WHAT'S ACCEPTABLE?
As long as you're following the activity rules and the FORMAT rules for entering, anything relating
to a television drama series is acceptable as challenge/activity submissions. However, make sure you read
through everything. It will be noted if something is not okay. Here is a list of all the acceptable tv dramas. If what you want is not on there, comment with what you do want to get it approved.
SPOILERS and LJ-CUTS
Spoilers are allowed, provided they're under an lj-cut. In fact, everything you post needs to be under an lj-cut except for the posting information and any banners. Here at tdl, we think if it's been two weeks since an episode, you're good - the spoiler warning isn't necessary.
Banners should be no bigger than 400w by 400h px, please. That's a pretty big space we're allowing, so try not to go over it. Banners are typically used for adding a graphic to your posts and should not be promo banners. If you are promoting, do so at tdl_promoforum and follow the rules there. Banners should be centered and all other parts of your post should be behind an lj-cut.
Every challenge, activity and sub-community has posting formats - handily available in a textarea box. Use them. Not using them will get your post rejected. All communities are moderated (except for the social community) and we do ask you to adhere to the posting format.
Rejections happen due, mostly, to incorrect or inappropriate posting. Put Not Work Safe stuff behind a cut and warn for NWS. Put anything beyond PG-13 (R, NC-17 or their equivalents) behind cuts and warn for this content. Put in spoiler warnings, and always put stuff that's got spoilers behind a cut. If you've violated these rules, it'll be rejected with reasoning and a way to correct it.
You aren't allowed to promote more than one time a day for the same community in tdl_promos, for example. Sometimes rejections happen based on your subject/heading as well - if so, we let you know and we'll let you re-submit.
Always warn for graphic-nature content and character death. Warn for any nudity or foul language as well. Not everyone here is over 18, so we need to respect guidelines parents might want. Rate your work with some kind of guideline; G-NC 17 or Y-MA. Try to put in content warnings too, but only if they apply.

Tag your posts according to the rules of the relevant community. Some ask you to tag (like tdlscreenwriter) while others ask you to not tag. Sometimes tagging will be done by a Mod. At all times, tags are moderated. Always try to tag with your username and ensemble.
If you're going to be gone and want to keep your place in the land and in your ensemble, fill out the

CONTACTING A MOD
The President can be contacted here, by leaving a question on community posts or at tdl_president on any post there. You can also email the president at (email@example.com). If you're another Mod, you need to visit the moderator community. The President, and any other Mod, is happy to help you with anything you need.
GRIEVANCE AGAINST A MOD?
PM the President to begin the mediation process. All mediation takes place at tvdramamods. You'll be given temporary membership in order to work out the issue.
Are communities added every Season. There is only one added each season, and they
are very particular. Many activities take place in our extension communities, including
games, puzzles, fiction, graphics and discussion posts (and much more). Extension
communities extend the fun you can have in every season and the amount of activities.
Season One Extension Community: your_drama_otp
Season Two Extension Community: yourcrimescene
If you have any questions that are not here, please ask them. They'll be added to this list.
